Maximilian I (1459–1519). Person, rifts and changes of a transitional period

Internationally leading experts for Emperor Maximilian attend this congress that will contribute to the creation of a wide panorama of this personage that reigned during the transition from the Middle Ages to the Modern Era. Maximilian will not only be examined as a political figure but also as a monarch in the center of a culturally and artistically immensely productive court and as a key player in a time of profound political, cultural and ideological changes. The talks during the opening day will be given in the Riesensaal at the Hofburg in Innsbruck and speak about the personage Maximilian as well as the Europe in which he was active. The talks on Tuesday and Wednesday, given in the Kaiser-Leopold-Saal at the University, will cover various topics from the life at the court over his administrative elite to his self-portrayal through media.
